Episode 1: a stone, a garden and a sentence

With captions on and a free Candy.ai profile, we watched episode 1, which begins on the thief’s voice-over: the stone was what he came for, and he should have watched it. “A thief in my garden,” she says, and wonders how he dared rob a goddess. She points out that men who knelt in that spot have begged for their lives, while he has said nothing. Looking at her, he admits, makes it hard to think straight. Gold is what most thieves want, she answers, so what did he really come for? “I think I’m looking at it.” Killing him where he kneels is what she should do. What she announces instead is that he will stay, as hers.

Episode 2: kept, tested and nearly caught

Episode 2 starts with the thief summing things up: she did not kill him, she did something worse, she kept him. He is hers now, she says, and he should try to enjoy it. She orders him onto his knees, mortal, to find out whether he can learn his place, and he claims to be a fast learner. Then an attendant says the princess’s betrothed requests her presence, and she warns the thief to say nothing, since both die if the betrothed finds him there. Terror is what he ought to feel, she tells him. He is working on it. She adds that, being hers, he will learn to please a goddess. His voice-over says that he was a dead man this morning and would now follow her anywhere. Most men would kill to see what comes next, she says, and he replies that he is not most men. Hers is the final word: if he wants to live, he must earn it.

She is addressed as Princess by an attendant, and when she speaks of pleasing a goddess she plainly means herself. No name is given for the thief, and the betrothed is only mentioned.
