She begins to thank him and is interrupted with an invitation to sit. The riddle about time comes next. Gravity is the answer, which earns an approving “Good” and a remark that most people say deadlines. A burst of Latin follows, along with a roll call of languages, French, German, Arabic and Japanese among them. He asks whether she is single, and she replies usually. He then suggests the tour. More than 1,000 people work on this floor, he says, and as his assistant she will be paid more and take on more responsibility than ninety-nine percent of them, if she earns it. That line closes the episode.

Episode 2: a flight, a wife and a bathroom door

The action moves into the air in the second episode. Vaughn hopes she is not a nervous flyer and mentions that last year he flew just under half a million miles. Talia asks if assistants get air miles or only jet lag. He then introduces his wife, Viviana, with a joke about twenty-three happy years of marriage and a little trouble with the timing. Talia says hello and receives a comment about being a brunette, which makes a change. She asks where the bathroom is and is told to leave the door open. When asked if she is shy, she replies: “Not if you’re not.” That dare ends the episode.
