Mum Got Sick On Our Holiday: The Wife Who Asked Him to Keep Her Daughter Happy

Ever since the plane landed the wife has been ill, and she blames the prawns. Her single instruction from the sickbed: keep her daughter entertained.

Episode 1: doctor’s orders by the pool

Subtitles were on and the account was a free one on Candy.ai when we watched the first two episodes, and the story plays out inside the stepdad’s head. Because his thoughts are the narration, you learn that he is noticing his stepdaughter too. Harriet says her mom wants him keeping her company all week, doctor’s orders, and the wife, laid up in the room, backs this up, adding that no husband could be better.

By the pool Harriet wants help with sunscreen, joking that her arms are too short, and she praises his hands a bit too specifically. Her mom phones, Harriet reports that he is being very hands-on, and the narration panics at how poorly she lies. The episode ends on her plan for a curtained VIP daybed, charged to her mom’s card, and on the stepdad’s own question: should he say no?

Episode 2: a three-year secret and a cookie order

A protest that she should not be in here opens episode 2, and Harriet gives up the cover story. Since the day he danced with her mom at the wedding three years ago, she says, she has been watching him, and she has thought a lot about what he would be like. His answer is that he is her stepdad, and hers is that it does not matter. The scene turns physical, and in the middle of it the wife phones: she can finally keep something down and wants cookies from the little shop. By the close of episode 2 the direction was clear, and its last line is “Tell her 10 minutes.”

Where does the vacation go after episode 2?

The clock is set by the wife’s recovery. Episode 1 finds her laid up and episode 2 finds her hungry, and each step toward health makes the window smaller. Who is Harriet, and who is the stepdad?

Harriet is 23, nervous when the premise begins and the one steering by episode 2. The stepdad has no name: the premise says you are him, and the narration makes him the viewer’s stand-in. The wife is the third corner, heard on the phone and near the plot throughout. The script sounds British, with prawns, suncream and lads at the pool.
