His afternoon and evening become a tug-of-war in episode 2. While she washes his car, one roommate tells him that when she finishes he can drive her somewhere quiet, maybe the hills. Cutting in, the other warns him not to fall for it, because she is jealous that the idea was hers first. A shirt ends up soaked in what gets described as an unforeseeable tragedy.

Then the mood pivots. Forget the hills, says one of them, and come help her pick tonight’s outfit. He agrees, and one-liners fly about who is taking whom where. A locked-out roommate threatens to use the window, another proposes food instead of outfits, and dessert comes first. The final line is a message for Mona: “tell her I ordered in.”

Two women chase one roommate in the setup, and the free pair works like the opening two rounds. In round one he is asked to choose, and round two closes on a message about Mona.
